Washington, NJ – More than one million people worldwide will join an inter-religious prayer campaign for peace, the salvation of souls and the restoration of God in our cultures.
Participants of the World Apostolate of Fatima’s (WAF) initiative “Fatima Prayer Everywhere” would pray for the intentions requested by Our Lady of Fatima, the name given to an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. In 2017 the WAF will spiritually present Our Lady of Fatima with the fruits of the prayer initiative in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions.
“We know that God loves us, desires our highest good and answers our prayers,” said Deacon Bob Ellis, WAF national coordinator. “If sufficient numbers respond to this initiative and remain faithful for its duration, God’s grace will enlighten minds to truth, soften hearts and strengthen wills, thereby preparing a seedbed for the spiritual renewal of our country and the world.”
By 2017, WAF hopes to establish 100,000 “Fatima Prayer Cells” in the United States and many more throughout the world. Trained leaders would organize the cells comprised of two to 10 people who would gather regularly to pray for the Fatima intentions.
Catholics would be encouraged to pray the Rosary as requested by the Virgin Mary in Fatima. Everyone would be encouraged to pray the universal Fatima intentions according to their faith and to build up to at least 15 minutes of meditative prayer.
“Whether praying the Rosary or a simple prayer to God you help offset spiritual decay and spiritually nourish a world in great need,” said Michael La Corte, executive director, WAF USA.
He noted that WAF offers a free “starter kit” for people of any faith to help them benefit from the power of prayer and to pray for the intentions of Our Lady of Fatima. Free information can be found at www.FatimaPrayerEverywhere.org.

“Our Lady came for peace in the world,” he added. “God listens to prayer.”
“We would be mistaken to believe that Fatima’s Prophetic mission is complete” said Pope Benedict XVI and underlying the path the world is now on, Pope John Paul II said that “Fatima is more important now than ever.”
